Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and faced a lot racial taunts and led her to feel unwelcome. If she attended a school competition and received the highest praise for her singing at the age of 9 she began to feel more confident. Not only did it boost her confidence but her dreams changed. In 1992 she graduated with her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. She began her career at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and You've Got Mail in film. Her biggest breakthrough was when she played the character in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway performance of Spamalot winning not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. In 2007, she was cast in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy and became more well-known. She is also a known singer and has published an extended version of her play. Additionally, she works as a LGBT activist.
